Overview

Boulder 1010 Preamplifier uses the 983 gain stage borrowed from the 1012 DAC Preamplifier. 983's surface mount construction combines discrete and micro-circuitry comparable to the famous 993 from Boulder's 2000 series. 

The MM and MC capable phonostage uses four-layer circuit boards, advanced component placement and Boulder’s proprietary multistage design. 

The solid-state attenuator borrowed from the 2010 Preamplifier is comprised of discrete resistors and microcircuit switching, avoiding a typical sliding wiper potentiometer. 200 half-dB steps allow a 100 dB total range. Both the microprocessor and analog sections have separate power supplies and transformers. Control commands sent to the analog section are relayed via optocouplers, providing complete isolation.

Input renaming and a home theatre bypass are included, and each input can store preset levels to match different sources.

The chassis, made of interlocking, fully machines pieces, has been designed to reduce resonances.
