Acoustic treatment is essential for rooms, not just for hifi, but for speech and living standards. We've all been in rooms that are echoey and noisy - think about how hard it is to have a conversation in a noisy restaurant or during a real estate inspection. 

Having your space treatment acoustically for speech and for hifi are two very different propositions, but one that are very achievable.
