Overview

More than 20 years ago, Nagra pioneered a solution to this challenge with the introduction of the VFS – Vibration Free Support. This system was designed to isolate audio components from unwanted resonances and mechanical interference. The Compact VFS is the next generation of vibration free plates

The Compact VFS features a unique dual-layer structure, with each platform engineered to absorb a specific range of frequencies.

The bottom platform incorporates a Nagra-exclusive silicone-based compound that efficiently dissipates low-frequency vibrations. Between the layers, a Sorbothane® pad — a material also used by NASA for its exceptional damping properties — provides an additional level of isolation.

Each platform is reinforced with a phenolic layer, which further damps micro-vibrations within the aluminum structure, enhancing performance beyond that of the original VFS design.

Every detail of the Compact VFS reflects Nagra’s craftsmanship and precision.

Compact units, including the Nagra Compact PSU, achieve a new level of sonic performance when paired with the Compact VFS — offering greater clarity, dynamics, and musicality.

The four elegant spikes – delivered with the Compact VFS – not only complete the visual harmony of the system, but also contribute to optimal mechanical stability. The spikes or feet, which are screwed to the bottom of the unit to be placed on the VFS plates. Machined from ARCAp, a completely non-magnetic copper-nickel-zinc non-ferrous alloy. Their tips are made from Delrin resin whose properties lie between those of metal and plastic in terms of strength, hardness and stability. They ensure ultimate protection from vibration for any Nagra HiFi element.
