Critical to 360’s sonic character is the wholesale elimination of audible distortion brought about by the cutting-edge material science and simulation which drove development of the drive units, and their subsequent integration with our latest amplifier technologies in both the bass system and 360 Array.

Sumptuous form conscientiously follows function in a visibly remarkable aesthetic that breaks ground beyond traditional cabinet design. The shapely, extremely robust cabinet is built up from scrupulously formed 3D laminates – pushing and exceeding the limits of ply engineering to create a fluid front baffle which wraps elegantly around either side of the speaker. This baffle tapers from bottom to top, with shaped radii matched to the requirements of each individual drive unit. Fitted flush to this smooth face, the drivers project sound entirely without obstruction. These elements combined result in a speaker which produces precisely the same tonality in every direction, reinforcing the sound-stage of the original recording.

Machined into the 360 Array trim are a series of concentric arcs — redolent of the grooves of a vinyl record — a thoughtful nod to Linn’s origins and the iconic Sondek LP12 turntable upon which the company was founded. Designed expressly for 360 are three curated finish collections. The Glasgow Collection celebrates our Scottish home with expressive colours and dynamic textures. The Classic Collection offers timeless, understated elegance, whilst the Signature Collection presents exclusive statement finishes.

Pistonik
The unique Pistonik motor system is the driving force behind Linn-designed low frequency drive units. Pistonik produces flawless linear force over its entire wide range of in-and-out travel—even when driven extremely hard with bass-heavy music—thanks to a very long-stroke motor topology with a specially extended magnet gap. Major innovations throughout Pistonik’s design engineer out magnetic, mechanical, and thermal factors which together conspire to defeat linear performance.

To stabilise the magnetic field inside the voice coil gap, and reduce the impact of eddy currents, we’ve immersed the whole Pistonik motor assembly in permanent magnetic saturation. This enhanced stability reduces distortion drastically, providing the drive unit with exceptional speed, agility and responsiveness by lowering magnetic drag.

Pistonik’s triple-layered ventilation network eliminates acoustic compression as a source of distortion and noise, allowing air to move freely and silently through the motor structure. This ensures the moving mass of Pistonik-equipped drivers maintains smooth, supple motion, with the absolute absence of audible air turbulence. Untroubled by rising resistance due to thermal buildup, Pistonik’s performance remains steadfast after hours and hours of non-stop listening. The voice coil is kept cool by carefully designed ventilation paths; heat is drawn directly into the surrounding steel and aluminium structures, so that warm air is continuously exchanged for cool within the speaker cabinet.

Bass System with Power DAC technology
Our Power DAC technology combines DAC and amplification into a single stage — extending the digital signal path whilst minimising loss. It's highly efficient, ultra-low-noise, and provides the perfect platform for driving the lower bass system in 360. When coupled with the prodigious linear excursion of the Linn-designed 8" woofers it drives, 360 produces seismic, realistic and distortion-free bass that will seriously move you.
