Overview
Incorporating huge toroidal transformers, mil-spec glass epoxy circuit boards, and precision resistors and capacitors, the PowerField 1500's internal amplifier is high-current, high-power and American-made.
The 15", high-definition driver was specifically engineered by Def Tech to reach down to the lowest subsonic frequencies. Polymerized fiber construction cones are joined to specially formulated surrounds and long throw spiders. Rigid die-cast baskets hold the massive magnet structures and large voice coils in alignment. The high temperature voice coils are made of aluminum wound with triple insulated ultra-pure copper wire and baked in epoxy, for power handling in excess of 750 watts.
The monocoque cabinets are specifically engineered to be largely inert and vibration free, the cabinet walls are high density medite fused together by space-age polymer adhesives. Overall, the cabinets incorporate over a dozen internal braces to ensure solidity, and are finished with a hand-rubbed piano gloss black lacquer.
The PowerField 1500 has adjustable high pass filter controls (12 dB/octave roll-off) and continuously adjustable low pass filter controls to choose a 36 dB/octave roll-off for the high end of the subwoofer. It also includes a continuously adjustable phase control.
