Overview
A reference level CD player with some smart technologies and a well optimised output stage.
Based on a high precision disc drive mechanism with sophisticated error correction, the Boulder drive is used only for data retrieval, clocking and signal processing are managed by proprietary software and dedicated circuitry.
An onboard computer provides a buffer of more than one minute, with raw data from the buffer manipulated entirely in the software domain by a Boulder designed Eigen-value oversampling filter. It also has its own data buffer which calls for audio information from the host computer. This arrangement eliminates the possibility of timing glitches in transferring data to the processor.
The 1021’s analog section features Boulder’s six-pole Bessel filter and the highly regarded 983 output stage.
A playlist function enables you to pick your favourite tracks from each CD album and have them play back in any order you choose.
