AVID Hifi Ingenium Plug & Play Turntable
Since its debut in 2013, the Ingenium has earned global acclaim, setting the standard for entry-level audiophile turntables. As vinyl continues to gain popularity among both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts, we elevated the design even further in 2018.
The Ingenium Plug&Play enhances its predecessor by retaining key features while introducing refined aesthetics and a more streamlined setup. Pre-fitted with a high-quality tonearm and cartridge, it is ready to use in just ten minutes—truly Plug&Play.
- Sapphire Jewell Bearing
- Vibration Transfer Clamp
- Solid Aluminium Chassis
- Sorbothane Isolation Feet
- Aluminium Platter Upgrade
Clamp
A fundamental element in all our turntable designs, the unique screw-down clamp secures the record to the bearing, allowing unwanted vibrations to dissipate through the main chassis. This reduces the noise floor, enabling the cartridge to trace the groove with greater accuracy, delivering a more transparent and realistic sound while minimizing record wear. Precision-machined from solid aluminium and stainless steel, the clamp also flattens most warped records and eliminates air pockets that can degrade sound quality.
Platter
The high-density fibreboard (HDF) platter provides a stable, self-damping surface to support the record. A cork-based compound mat ensures that vibrations remain within the record, directing them away through the bearing instead of passing into the platter. For an even greater level of performance, an upgraded solid aluminium platter is available, offering improved sound quality and speed stability.
Bearing
At the core of every AVID turntable is the unique inverted true single-point bearing. A specially shaped sapphire rotates on a captive tungsten carbide ball, eliminating friction, noise, and wear. Unlike conventional designs, this bearing prevents lateral movement, ensuring the platter remains perfectly stable, free from rumble or wobble. The tapered main spindle eliminates standing waves, while the self-lubricating sleeve provides lifelong maintenance-free operation.
Chassis
Machined from solid aluminium, the heavy cruciform chassis ensures exceptional rigidity between the tonearm and platter. Any unwanted movement in this area could compromise musical detail, but AVID’s precision engineering guarantees that every nuance in the recording is faithfully preserved. Vibrations evacuated from the record through the press-fit spindle are harmlessly dissipated, maintaining absolute clarity in playback.
Feet
The chassis is supported by bespoke Sorbothane rubber feet, isolating the turntable from external vibrations and feedback from loudspeakers. This specialized material provides outstanding isolation, preventing interference that could compromise sound reproduction quality.
Motor
Delivering dynamic drive and stability, the Ingenium Plug&Play features a high-powered synchronous motor with the optimal power-to-mass ratio. This ensures complete control over the platter, resulting in rapid start-up, fast dynamics, and authoritative sound reproduction that a powerful drive system provides.
