AudioQuest Pearl USB Cable
High-Definition Digital Audio Cable
Pearl USB utilizes high-purity Long-Grain Copper conductors and Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation technology, efficiently dissipating radio-frequency noise.
Semi-Solid Concentric Long-Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors
In conventional multi-strand cables, distortion from electrical and magnetic strand interaction intensifies as each strand shifts position within the bundle. AQ’s Semi-Solid Concentric cables, however, keep strands in fixed relationships, significantly minimizing distortion. Long-Grain Copper (LGC) delivers smoother and clearer sound than standard OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper, with fewer oxides, impurities, grain boundaries, and overall superior performance.
Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation
Achieving 100% shield coverage is straightforward, but preventing captured radio-frequency interference (RFI) from impacting the equipment’s ground reference requires AQ's Noise-Dissipation. Traditional shields absorb and drain noise/RF energy to component ground, distorting the crucial "reference" ground plane and thus the signal. Noise-Dissipation effectively "shields the shield," absorbing and reflecting most noise/RF energy before it reaches the ground-attached layer.
Hard-Cell Foam Insulation
Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) Insulation ensures stable signal-pair geometry. Any solid material around a conductor contributes to an imperfect circuit; wire insulation and circuit board materials absorb energy, releasing some back as distortion. Hard-Cell Foam, akin to the Foamed-PE used in AQ’s Bridges & Falls cables, is nitrogen-injected to create air pockets. Nitrogen, like air, doesn’t absorb energy, minimizing distortion. The material’s rigidity also stabilizes conductor relationships along the cable, ensuring consistent impedance and further reducing distortion.
Direction-Controlled Conductors
All drawn metal conductors have a non-symmetrical, directional grain structure. AudioQuest manages RF impedance variation to channel noise away from potential distortion. Correct direction is determined by listening tests on each batch of metal in every AQ cable. Arrows marked on connectors indicate the optimal direction for superior sound quality, aligning with Noise-Dissipation design. In most AQ cables, the arrows also show the asymmetrical attachment of shield and GND, optimizing full-system performance by ensuring induced noise is effectively dissipated and drained.
