In optical fiber transmission, light dispersion occurs when light takes a longer, indirect path—similar to a pool ball rebounding off side rails. This delayed light reaches the receiver later, complicating the decoding of audio information and reducing effective bandwidth, which is a clear indicator of dispersion within the fiber.
