AudioQuest Forest Digital Coax Cable

Forest Coax incorporates high-purity Solid 0.5% Silver conductors and a Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation system, ensuring optimal dissipation of radio-frequency noise.

Solid 0.5% Silver Conductors
Solid conductors minimize harmful strand-to-strand interaction effects. For high-frequency digital signals, which primarily travel on the conductor's surface, increasingly thick layers of silver plating are applied to AudioQuest’s Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors to enhance Noise-Dissipation. By placing high-purity metal on the conductor’s exterior, overall performance is maximized—a cost-effective method for achieving superior digital cable quality.

Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation
Achieving 100% shield coverage is straightforward, but AQ’s Noise-Dissipation system goes further to prevent captured radio-frequency interference (RFI) from modulating the ground reference. Traditional shields absorb and drain noise/RF energy to component ground, potentially distorting the "reference" ground plane and causing signal distortion. Noise-Dissipation “shields the shield,” absorbing and reflecting most noise/RF energy before it reaches the grounded layer.

Hard-Cell Foam Insulation
Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) Insulation preserves critical signal-pair geometry. All materials near a conductor form part of an imperfect circuit, with insulation materials absorbing energy that later releases as distortion. Hard-Cell Foam Insulation, similar to Foamed-PE in more affordable Bridges & Falls cables, is nitrogen-injected to form air pockets. Since nitrogen doesn’t absorb energy, it minimizes distortion. Additionally, the material’s stiffness helps the cable’s conductors maintain stable geometry, reducing impedance variations and further minimizing distortion.

Cold-Welded, Gold-Plated Terminations
This plug design avoids solder, a common source of distortion, using instead a high-pressure technique. Stamped ground shells are used instead of machined ones, allowing the choice of low-distortion metals over machinability, optimizing audio signal integrity.
