The AT-VM740xML comes fitted with a Microlinear stylus
Audio Technica's top-of-the-range Special Line Contact stylus is the same stylus fitted to their higher-end cartridges. It makes more vertical surface contact than any other stylus shape, giving it the highest fidelity.
This cartridge is fitted with a nude diamond stylus rather than one with a diamond-tipped shank, which means it's more durable. The cantilever is standard aluminium, which is heavier and therefore less responsive compared to the stylus fitted to AT-VM745xML.
