Overview
The Audio Research CLASSIC 60 features a triode-configured output stage while retaining the partial cathode coupling that Audio Research is famous for.
The suggested 60w output is conservative, offering separate terminals to drive 4, 8 or 16 ohm loads.
CL-60 is a hybrid design, using precision semiconductors in the input stage along with two 6FQ7 driver tubes in each channel. 2 matched pairs of 6550's are the driving force.
The internal circuitry readjusts the tube bias regulator automatically for power line voltage changes, avoiding concern about whether the bias is set correctly for your line voltage. A sophisticated servo circuit continuously monitors and maintains DC balance in each pair of output tubes in each channel.
The CL-60 is cleaner and more articulate than it's appearance, age or topology would suggest.
