The Accuphase E-6000 is a new flagship integrated stereo amplifier developed from more than five decades of Accuphase amplifier technology. Combining a Balanced AAVA preamplifier with a high-power Class AB output stage, the E-6000 is designed to provide the performance and driving capability associated with separate preamplifier and power amplifier systems in a single chassis.
The Balanced AAVA volume-control system is derived from Accuphase’s separate preamplifier models and incorporates ANCC in the IV conversion amplifier section. Compared with the E-5000, the E-6000 improves its rated signal-to-noise ratio by 1 dB, with noise performance in the actual volume-use range improved by 14%. The internal component and grounding layouts have also been optimised.
The Class AB power amplifier uses a current-feedback circuit, a cascode bootstrap circuit in the voltage amplification stage and six parallel audio bipolar transistors. Output power is rated at 260 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 350 watts per channel into 4 ohms. A newly designed extra-large toroidal transformer and a dedicated 47,000 μF filter capacitor provide the power supply capacity required by the high-output design. A high damping factor of 1000 is achieved using an ultra-low on-resistance MOSFET in the speaker protection circuit.
The E-6000 incorporates output short-circuit, abnormal-temperature and output-DC detection for operational safety. Its chassis features a large analogue power meter, satin-finished aluminium position indicators, gold-plated bases for the input selector and volume knob, and a high-rigidity input selector with a carefully engineered tactile feel. The amplifier includes the RC-260 remote.
