Overview

Made in Japan using premium materials, Marantz Model 40n Integrated Network amplifier is a true all-in-one smart amp - just add speakers. Marantz signature house-sound is ensured through the utilisation of their custom HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules) and in-house tuning by a Marantz Sound Master.

The unit is deceiving solid, likely due to the double-shielded toroidal power supply, and the physical control knobs are nicely weighted and responsive. The included remote control is polished and clean while providing very good control over the feature set.

Easily adjustable tone controls on the unit's front face allow some fine tuning of the sound signature, but can also be defeated using the "source direct" feature. Limited DAC filter options are also available.

Clean, literally instant (when testing in store) connection and integration with Marantz's HEOS app makes accessing streaming services and radio a pleasure. You may never need to find out though, both Spotify and Tidal Connect features are included so you can just use the native streaming app and output the signal to the Model 40n. For those less technical, Airplay and Bluetooth connections are straightforward and responsive. The analogue RCA inputs for connecting external sources like CD players, also include a dedicated moving magnet phono stage. 

If you're looking for a one box solution that looks great on display, the Model 40n is more than worth the time to check out in store.
