AudioQuest Forest USB Cable (USB-B to USB-C)
High-Definition Digital Audio Cable
AudioQuest Forest USB utilizes high-purity 0.5% silver conductors and Metal-Layer Noise Dissipation technology to effectively dissipate radio-frequency noise.
Solid 0.5% Silver Conductors
Solid conductors reduce the adverse effects of electrical and magnetic strand-to-strand interaction. For high-frequency digital cables, signals travel primarily along the conductor surface, so AudioQuest applies thick silver plating over Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors to enhance Noise Dissipation. By positioning the highest quality metal on the conductor’s exterior, performance gains are achieved cost-effectively, maximizing digital cable quality.
Metal-Layer Noise Dissipation
Achieving 100% shield coverage is straightforward; however, AQ's Noise Dissipation prevents captured radio-frequency interference (RFI) from modulating the ground reference of connected equipment. Unlike typical shield systems, which drain noise/RF energy to component ground and can distort the "reference" ground plane, Noise Dissipation "shields the shield," absorbing and reflecting most noise/RF energy before it affects the ground layer.
Hard-Cell Foam Insulation
Hard-Cell Foam (HCF) Insulation maintains precise signal-pair geometry. Solid materials adjacent to conductors contribute to an imperfect circuit, absorbing energy and releasing it as distortion. HCF Insulation, like the nitrogen-injected Foamed-PE used in Bridges & Falls cables, creates air pockets to minimize energy absorption and release. This material’s rigidity helps sustain conductor alignment along the cable’s length, ensuring stable impedance and reducing distortion.
Direction-Controlled Conductors
Metal conductors naturally have a directional grain structure, and AudioQuest optimizes this to control RF impedance and direct noise away from points of potential distortion. The optimal direction is determined by testing each metal batch used in AudioQuest audio cables. For many models, arrows on connectors indicate the ideal direction not only for Noise Dissipation but also for non-symmetrical shield and ground (GND) connections, enhancing full-system performance. Direction-Controlled Conductors are key to AudioQuest’s Noise Dissipation, ensuring noise is properly dissipated and drained.
