Overview
The Audio Note (UK) M8 Pre Amplifier is engineered for sonic performance rather than technical specifications.
Accurate music reproduction, rather than mere sound, requires preserving the purity of the incoming signal. To achieve this and retain the musicality of the original performance, circuit complexity must be kept to a minimum. The M8 Pre Amplifier accomplishes this with a single-ended, zero feedback circuit topology, the most linear design possible. This design demands pure Class A valve operation and eliminates the need for a phase splitter, avoiding unwanted crossover distortion.
Unlike most of the audio industry, the focus here is on minimizing non-harmonic and time-base anomalies rather than chasing low harmonic or intermodulation distortion measurements. These non-harmonic distortions have a significant adverse impact on the signal waveform, making them a more crucial factor to address than achieving "perfect" measured responses.
The M8 Line is designed for maximum linearity and minimal transient distortion, avoiding the need for corrective measures like feedback loops, which are prone to errors.
