Overview
The Mark Levinson Nº37 moves beyond traditional digital audio technology with its exclusive closed-loop jitter-reduction system and a double-speed CD-ROM drive. It utilizes a custom crystal oscillator with accuracy better than five part-per-million to reclock the digital signal just before the output, eliminating transport-related jitter from the digital audio signal. This crystal oscillator also controls the all-digital servo, regulating the disc spin rate. The Nº37's design challenges the conventional approach by placing the crucial reference clock in the final stage of the transport's output section. It slaves the mechanical subassemblies to this clock, rather than the usual reverse, ensuring that the signal reaching the Nº37's outputs remains free from electrically- or mechanically-induced jitter.
