Overview

The Guarneri boasts an enticing design, featuring gracefully curved sides and a rich piano-gloss finish. To achieve these smooth curves both inside and out, the side panels are crafted from solid wood sections, reminiscent of the construction techniques used in traditional boat hulls. The seven primary sections are interspersed with ebony, evoking the aesthetic of a fine lute. This design choice was intentional; Franco Serblin, the founder of Sonus Faber, aimed to pay tribute to the 250th anniversary of the renowned Italian violin maker, Guarneri, reflected in the speaker's full name: the Guarneri Homage.

While Serblin's creations are undeniably musically rewarding and infused with distinctive Italian flair, their essence is deeply rooted in traditional high-fidelity principles and engineering. In contrast, the Guarneri draws inspiration from premium materials, age-old craftsmanship, and the pivotal role that a musical instrument's structure plays in its sound quality. The Guarneri Homage is a limited-edition speaker, essentially custom-made to order. Only a select few artisans possess the skill to craft its enclosure, and production is strictly limited to no more than 10 pairs per month.

Unlike typical loudspeaker design approaches, which often prioritize technical research to refine various acoustic options for optimal sound quality, the Guarneri places music at its core. As Sonus Faber aptly puts it, "High technology can sometimes obscure the timeless solutions that came before us, falsely believing that only the latest innovations can be superior."

In naming the Guarneri, Serblin was driven by the belief that this loudspeaker should serve as a musical instrument in its own right.
