Overview

The X-1000R dbx was a high-quality, three-motor, quarter-track stereo tape deck. Several variants were available, designated by the following suffixes: R (bi-directional record/playback) and dbx (DBX-I noise reduction system).

The R model featured six heads and full auto reverse for both recording and playback, while the dbx models were equipped with a professional-grade DBX-I noise reduction system. The deck utilized electrically-assisted braking and a dual capstan drive for precise tape handling. A three-position tape-type selector allowed users to optimize bias and equalization for normal, LH, or EE tape. An electronic digital tape counter provided real-time positioning.

Additional features included Pitch Control, Tape Lifter, Dupli-Sync, Auto Spacer, and Auto Timer.
